people need to leave maya henry alone. she had every right as a victim to be mad and speak up about the abuse she endured at just 18/19 years old. if your first instinct in the wake of finding out that liam died is to bombard her with vitriolic comments on instagram, blaming her for any of this, you’re sick. none of this is her fault and you all need to do better.
#maya henry#liam payne#some of the comments i’ve seen are so vile#i hope she’s okay and that she has a solid support system#*

Allow me to rant.
Would u be saying "you could mourn the loss of the 14 year old boy and not the grown abusive man" if the abused was your sister? Daughter, friend, yourself?
What was that line in Barbie? 'Men hate women and women hate women.' I never saw one man sympathise with Amber Heard, or simp at her since the trials. I've seen plethora of women sympathise with the nastiest of abusers. We are too empathetic for our own good. We always find a reason to absolve them, be it their age or childhood trauma or drugs, the list is long.
Do not speak ill of the dead bla bla bla. Why should I respect the dead when they didn't respect the living?

I have a genuine question
Why the hell are you guys still defending Maya Henry?
This person goes there, writes a book accusing someone of terrible things, goes on the internet and promotes a virtual lynching WITHOUT SHOWING ANY PROOF THAT IT HAPPENED and you don't question anything?
We must believe the victim, but we also need evidence, an accusation without evidence is just slander
She never made any official reports to the police, she never showed any evidence
She just said, "trust my word" and you followed blindly, is that it?
And you never bothered to hear his side, right? Oh, it's because she filed a Cease and Desist order against him, preventing him from telling his truth.
This type of order prohibits the person from contacting or mentioning your name in any situation. If he was so terrible, why didn't she filled out a protective order, which really protects the victim from the aggressor?
When someone hurts you the way she says that he did, you ask for a restraining order, not a Cease and Desist order.
When someone traumatizes you the way he supposedly traumatized her, you avoid talking about this person and their existence like the devil avoids the cross, you don't go on the internet to like posts badmouthing him even when he is already dead
Believing that every woman is a saint just because she is a woman is a case of terrible ignorance and a great lack of character.
Najila Trindade accused Neymar of rape, and she faked the crime.
Emmet Till was falsely accused by a woman, he was murdered
When she is prosecuted and proven to have lied, I hope you learn to be better people.

okay i’m usually just here for the vibes but i have to say something. i am seeing so many 1D fans defending liam rn, and when i go to their profiles they’re almost entirely very young girls/women. which on a surface level is awful to watch given the misogynistic things they’re saying in defense of a man they don’t even know, but beyond that is also deeply concerning because they clearly do not know anything about patterns or signs of abuse and how to identify them. which leaves them incredibly vulnerable and at risk of experiencing abusive relationships themselves.
as infuriating as it is to read a 16 year old tweeting about how liam only chased maya around with an axe once and he’s a good person so he probably felt really bad and would never do it again, it’s mostly really scary. because how many “one time” instances of abuse in her own life will said 16 year old endure before she realizes it’s a pattern and is not going to get better.
i would believe maya anyway, but i especially believe her because everything she’s said makes sense to me as someone who has survived an abusive situation and is now trying to process it after some time has passed. everything i’ve seen called out as “fishy” about what she’s said is actually just how survival and trauma processing works. it makes sense. my heart goes out to everyone who gets that. and to those of you who don’t, i’m begging you to be open to learning now rather than waiting and learning from experience.

Liam Payne is a disgusting selfish person for killing himself to ruin women’s reputation. He knew his brainded dick riders/fangirls/puppets would come barking on that poor woman, Maya Henry, and blame her for something he’s himself responsible for — his death. Although it’s quite shocking as i was a one direction fan since childhood, i am so glad he died. Nothing comes before feminism. No man will ever come before a woman even if he’s a victim and she’s the culprit. Even if Maya killed him, as they claim, i still support her just like I have always supported Amber Heard despite caring about whether she abused that fugly depp or not.

It's okay to still care about someone who has done something bad, it's good even! We SHOULD care about other people and not throw them away when they struggle! But creating a space where people think that if they acknowledge that harm was done they have to force themselves to not care just leads to denial because people don't want to take that drastic step, WHICH IS REALLY HARMFUL. Acknowledging that someone has done harm and is not themselves doing okay does not mean you have to stop caring and feel bad that you ever did or pretend they don't exist anymore: BUT DENYING THAT THEY DID ANYTHING BAD DOES CAUSE HARM. Saying victims are lying or attention seeking for talking about their experiences shows other victims what they can expect if they try to speak and leads to people staying in dangerous situations. Saying that someone who is charming and soft hearted could not also lash out and hurt or traumatize someone puts people in real danger if they believe that. Thinking that all addicts are Bad rather than it just being a struggle lots of people have leads to harm when you refuse to recognize the signs of addiction in yourself or people close to you because you think that's something for some other kind of people.
People do things that hurt other people all of the time, every one of us has at some point and will again. With compassion and help most people can and want to do better; but telling them that they are fine and don't need to change OR telling them that they are beyond help and worthless both do exactly the same thing, which is to discourage any change at all. It's not possible for us to fix Liam as much as we may wish we could: but it is an opportunity to practice for when someone in our life is an addict and /or hurts someone. And when that happens AS IT WILL TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US I hope that people can find a way to find that space that is neither throwing struggling people away nor enabling their behavior.

You know I get Liam made some bad choices and did some dumb things, but can someone explain to me why the conversation around his death is not what led him to that place? He didn’t just wake up one day and decided to do drugs and alcohol and make bad decisions and be supposedly abusive. There were a lot of things that happened in the hands of other people that pushed him to place and the fact that that’s not a real conversation happening right now is really disheartening for the future of humanity. The fact that there are no consequences for how you treat people on social media how there’s barely consequences for how you treat people in every day life … is seriously messed up

i’ve never heard about this! i wonder if it was another reason ?
I was barely more than a lurker at the time, so I missed a lot back then. It looks like the delay did happen, although from the articles I saw (sample below), it wasn’t two hours.
x
“More than an hour elapsed between the conclusion of opening band 5 Seconds of Summer and the start of One Direction. The pop-heavy playlist during the long, interminable wait catered to the dominant demographic:” x
“Even though Thursday was a school night, One Direction didn’t get on stage until 9:30 p.m. As early as 9 p.m., groups of impatient little girls stood in the Superdome stands, fists pounding the air as they chanted for their music idols.” x

FUCK Liam Payne! I will no longer support OT5 and I don’t even want a 1D reunion anymore. It’s so disgusting how so many of you defend these boys actions, but especially Liam, in light of everything that has come out. Maya Henry has every right to speak about her experiences. And it’s gross that I’m seeing literal threads and tweets upon tweets of people calling her a liar and saying all these horrible things. You’re proving Liam right! “No one will believe you anyways and the fans will always defend us!”
Is that not absolutely horrifying to yall? That this man is weaponizing his fanbase against women that he has treated poorly? And yall continue to enable him! Everything Maya said in her recent TikTok was true! Yall defend this abuser because of boy band nostalgia? What the fuck is wrong with some of yall? It makes me sick. It’s always “believe women” “believe victims” until it’s your fave, right?!
We don’t know these people! “He would never do that…” YOU DONT KNOW HIM! These parasocial relationships are going too far.
What’s scary is based on some of the stuff Maya said, I wonder if this is only the tip of the iceberg with Liam. He’s probably done so much shit we don’t even know about. Maybe even the other boys???
I know I’m ranting and no one probably cares but some of the tweets I saw defending Liam were so triggering and upsetting. Trending hashtags like #FreeLiam and #WeLoveYouLiam when a woman CONFIRMED that he abused her is just so sickening. This is why women don’t come forward. This is especially why victims of celebrities and people in power don’t come forward. Because this is how they’re treated. Maya literally even confirmed that Liam and his team have tried to silence her and didn’t want the book to come out. I just… there are no more words.
This whole situation is so triggering… I’m so angry and upset.
Fuck Liam Payne and Fuck all of yall defending him.
#Liam Payne#maya henry#one direction#tw abuse#if she is lying why isn’t he suing for defamation#because she’s not lying#Liam is an abuser and yall need to accept that#I will never support him again#and I’m side eyeing all of the boys who will continue to associate with him after this#there’s no way they or their teams aren’t seeing the accusations#and I’ve been feeling weird about Zayn too ever since the alleged incident with Gigi’s mom#and some women have implied some stuff about him too so I just#and apparently Niall is a cheater which we been knew#Louis and Harry have their own share of drama#the older I get the more the parasocialness is wearing off thank goodness#we don’t know these people#I wouldn’t be surprised if 5/5 are actually horrible people at this point#don’t even get me started on none of them speaking on Palestine#I could go on and on#this situation with Liam is just so messed up and fucking with me#like we knew since Maya’s book came out but still#to hear some of it from her own mouth is different kinda#the stories she could probably tell#I feel so bad for her and hope she is in a place of healing and this doesn’t set her back#end rant

OMG! Are people really that dumb and insensitive?? Yes, we all are sad, we all are mourning over his death, but you just can't blame Maya Henry, his ex-fiancée and his victim, for his death. Remember he was a drug addict, an abuser. he abused Maya, making her life a nightmare when she was just 18/19 years old. His death was not her fault. It's possible to feel sad for the person he was and still hold him accountable for his actions. Saddest part is his victims may never get the justice they deserve.
Remember, you are grieving the 16 year-old boy from a band who was a big part of your childhood, not the man he became.
